Hello friends...

First of all let us get some knowledge about torrent clients and torrent files. Torrent downloading is done through the P2P file sharing.
Peer to Peer (P2P) file sharing is one of the largest bandwidth eaters for most of the networks around the world, colleges, & also in companies. Hence, most network administrators tends to implement strong solutions to block P2P file sharing softwares. Let us start by discussing some basic terms:



 

P2P file sharing

This is the technique of connecting to a peer to peer network where you download files directly from the computers of other users on the network. There is no server in this type of network. The torrent you are downloading is directly coming from the seeders.

BitTorrent

This is one of the most popular P2P file sharing protocols that is used to transfer large amount of data on the network.

Torrent

This is a file with a .torrent extension that contains metadata information about the location of some target file that needs to be downloaded by a user. Without the torrent file you can not download any data from a P2P file sharing network.

utorrent

This is an open source client software that allows users to use BitTorrent protocol to share files with other peers.

Seeds

This whole process starts when a user uploads a file over the torrent clients and shares the link to others. When other users starts to download the file, the first user begins to upload the file which is directly downloading to the other users. This first user is called the seed. If the seed blocks its uploading, other users can't download the file. On the other hand if the other users finished their downloading, they becomes the seeders.

Most system administrators use any or all of the below techniques to block the use of bit torrent on the network.

1) Disable installation of torrent clients like utorrent on your system.

2) Block the download of any file that has an .torrent extension. All torrent meta files have a .torrent extension.

Let us see how easy it is for users to bypass these commonly used blocking mechanisms:-

 

If Installation of torrent clients is blocked.

If your administrator does not allow you to install torrent clients on your systems, then it is still possible for you to download torrents by 2 ways:-
1):- With the help of web based torrent clients which allows you to download the torrent file right from your browser. No need to install anything on your computer. One such web based torrent client is this

Just start your browser, open this website and type the URL of the torrent file you wish to download in the provided space and you will be able to download the torrent from within your browser itself.

2):- Another good alternative is to use PORTABLE version of your favourite BitTorrent clients. The portable version of utorrent can run directly from a USB pen drive without the need to install anything on your system. If downloading of .torrent file is blocked.

If the administrator is blocking you to download a .torrent extension file then there is a fantastic website called...

which allows you to download the torrent file directly from the browser and at the same time changes the extension from .torrent to .exe. This means that your administrator thinks that you are downloading the .exe file. Once you finish downloading the .exe file, execute it, it will automatically start downloading your torrent. An even better website is:-

This website changes the extension from .torrent to .txt, hence local administrator thinks that you are downloading a harmless text file. Once you finish downloading .txt file, simply change the extension to .torrent and you will be able to start downloading the torrent file.
